How to start the correct consult in Ascend (avoid duplicate consults)

If you create or open a consult incorrectly in Ascend, it can create a new consult that is not linked to the original appointment or create a duplicate consult. When that happens, Vetnotes can write to the wrong record.

To avoid this, always start the consult from the appointment in the calendar.

Here's how to start the correct consult in Ascend

  1. Open Ascend

  2. Go to the Calendar

  3. Find the patient’s appointment

  4. Click the appointment

  5. Click the three dots

  6. Click Start consult, then consult from that screen.

Note: Do not create or open the consult separately from the appointment.
